Parameter mode (IN,OUT,IN OUT) in PL/SQL | Part - 20.1 | In Hindi by Tech Talk Tricks

04:32
Welcome to techtalktricks and in this video, we will learn about the parameter mode (IN, OUT, IN OUT).So stay tuned and watch how to use IN, OUT, and IN OUT parameter mode in the procedure. #TechTalkTricks #RanaSingh An IN parameter lets you pass a value to the subprogram. It is a read-only parameter. Inside the subprogram, an IN parameter acts like a constant. It cannot be assigned a value. You can pass a constant, literal, initialized variable, or expression as an IN parameter. You can also initialize it to a default value; however, in that case, it is omitted from the subprogram call. It is the default mode of parameter passing. Parameters are passed by reference. An OUT parameter returns a value to the calling program. Inside the subprogram, an OUT parameter acts like a variable. You can change its value and reference the value after assigning it. The actual parameter must be variable and it is passed by value. An IN OUT parameter passes an initial value to a subprogram and returns an updated value to the caller. It can be assigned a value and the value can be read. The actual parameter corresponding to an IN OUT formal parameter must be a variable, not a constant or an expression. Formal parameter must be assigned a value. Actual parameter is passed by value. PL/SQL: Object Type

08:31
In this tutorial, you'll learn what is a object type in sql/plsql PL/SQL (Procedural Language/Structured Query Language) is Oracle Corporation's procedural extension for SQL and the Oracle relational database. PL/SQL is available in Oracle Database (since version 7), TimesTen in-memory database (since version 11.2.1), and IBM DB2 (since version 9.7).[1] Oracle Corporation usually extends PL/SQL functionality with each successive release of the Oracle Database. PL/SQL includes procedural language elements such as conditions and loops. It allows declaration of constants and variables, procedures and functions, types and variables of those types, and triggers. It can handle exceptions (runtime errors). Arrays are supported involving the use of PL/SQL collections. Implementations from version 8 of Oracle Database onwards have included features associated with object-orientation. One can create PL/SQL units such as procedures, functions, packages, types, and triggers, which are stored in the database for reuse by applications that use any of the Oracle Database programmatic interfaces. PL/SQL works analogously to the embedded procedural languages associated with other relational databases. For example, Sybase ASE and Microsoft SQL Server have Transact-SQL, PostgreSQL has PL/pgSQL (which emulates PL/SQL to an extent), and IBM DB2 includes SQL Procedural Language,[2] which conforms to the ISO SQL’s SQL/PSM standard. The designers of PL/SQL modeled its syntax on that of Ada. Both Ada and PL/SQL have Pascal as a common ancestor, and so PL/SQL also resembles Pascal in several aspects. However, the structure of a PL/SQL package does not resemble the basic Object Pascal program structure as implemented by a Borland Delphi or Free Pascal unit. Programmers can define public and private global data-types, constants and static variables in a PL/SQL package.[3] PL/SQL also allows for the definition of classes and instantiating these as objects in PL/SQL code. This resembles usage in object-oriented programming languages like Object Pascal, C++ and Java. PL/SQL refers to a class as an "Abstract Data Type" (ADT) or "User Defined Type" (UDT), and defines it as an Oracle SQL data-type as opposed to a PL/SQL user-defined type, allowing its use in both the Oracle SQL Engine and the Oracle PL/SQL engine. The constructor and methods of an Abstract Data Type are written in PL/SQL. The resulting Abstract Data Type can operate as an object class in PL/SQL. Such objects can also persist as column values in Oracle database tables. PL/SQL is fundamentally distinct from Transact-SQL, despite superficial similarities. Porting code from one to the other usually involves non-trivial work, not only due to the differences in the feature sets of the two languages,[4] but also due to the very significant differences in the way Oracle and SQL Server deal with concurrency and locking. There are software tools available that claim to facilitate porting including Oracle Translation Scratch Editor,[5] CEITON MSSQL/Oracle Compiler [6] and SwisSQL.[7] The StepSqlite product is a PL/SQL compiler for the popular small database SQLite. PL/SQL Program Unit A PL/SQL program unit is one of the following: PL/SQL anonymous block, procedure, function, package specification, package body, trigger, type specification, type body, library. Program units are the PL/SQL source code that is compiled, developed and ultimately executed on the database. The basic unit of a PL/SQL source program is the block, which groups together related declarations and statements. A PL/SQL block is defined by the keywords DECLARE, BEGIN, EXCEPTION, and END. These keywords divide the block into a declarative part, an executable part, and an exception-handling part. The declaration section is optional and may be used to define and initialize constants and variables. If a variable is not initialized then it defaults to NULL value. The optional exception-handling part is used to handle run time errors. Only the executable part is required. A block can have a label. Package Packages are groups of conceptually linked functions, procedures, variables, PL/SQL table and record TYPE statements, constants, cursors etc. The use of packages promotes re-use of code. Packages are composed of the package specification and an optional package body. The specification is the interface to the application; it declares the types, variables, constants, exceptions, cursors, and subprograms available. The body fully defines cursors and subprograms, and so implements the specification. Two advantages of packages are: Modular approach, encapsulation/hiding of business logic, security, performance improvement, re-usability. They support object-oriented programming features like function overloading and encapsulation. Using package variables one can declare session level (scoped) variables, since variables declared in the package specification have a session scope.

Oracle LISTAGG Function

04:57
https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-listagg/ The Oracle LISTAGG function allows you to aggregate or combine string values from multiple rows into a single row. For example, it turns this data: FIRST_NAME Adam Brad Carrie Into this data: FIRST_NAME Adam, Brad, Carrie The same data is shown, but it’s in one row and not multiple. It’s a valuable string manipulation function, and once you know what it is and how it works, you’ll be able to use it in your queries as needed. So what does it look like? The function is: LISTAGG ( measure_expr [, delimiter]) WITHIN GROUP (order_by_clause) [OVER query_partition_clause] These parameters are: measure_expr: This is a column or expression that you want to concatenate the values of. In the example above, it was the first_name column. Mandatory. delimiter: This is the character between each of the measure_expr values. Optional, the default is a comma. order_by_clause: This is the order that the values from the measure_expr are listed. Mandatory. query_partition_clause: This allows you to use LISTAGG as an analytic function, allowing you to show LISTAGG in groups for different rows. One thing to be aware of is that the output of the Oracle LISTAGG function is limited to 4,000 bytes. If you get more than this, you’ll receive an error. The most common way around this that I’ve seen is to write a custom function and use a CLOB. Watch the video to find out more and see some examples. For more information about the Oracle LISTAGG function, including all of the SQL shown in this video and the examples, read the related article here: https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-listagg/

Oracle CURRENT_DATE Function

01:54
https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-date-functions/ The Oracle CURRENT_DATE function is used to return the current date in the session timezone. The session timezone is the timezone that the current user is logging in from. This can be different from the database’s timezone. The syntax of the CURRENT_DATE function is: CURRENT_DATE No parameters are needed - just the function name. The function returns a DATE data type, and it includes hours, minutes, and seconds. This is good to know because the default display format for DATE does not include the time component, and it can be easy to forget. It’s different to the SYSDATE function as SYSDATE returns the date in the database timezone, and CURRENT_DATE returns the date in the session time zone. So, if I’m logging in from Melbourne, Australia, and the database is in London, England, then the CURRENT_DATE will return a date and time that’s 10 hours ahead of SYSDATE. It may be on the same day, or it could be a different day, depending on when I run the function. You can perform arithmetic on this function just like any other date value (e.g. CURRENT_DATE - 7 for 7 days ago). For more information about the Oracle CURRENT_DATE function, including all of the SQL shown in this video and the examples, read the related article here: https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-date-functions/

Oracle DECOMPOSE Function

01:41
The Oracle DECOMPOSE function is used to transform a string into a Unicode string. It will split a character that has an accent, for example, into two characters. It’s the opposite of the COMPOSE function. The syntax of the DECOMPOSE function is: DECOMPOSE ( input_string [CANONICAL|COMPATIBILITY] ) The parameters of this function are: - input_string is the string that will be decomposed into separate character values in a string. It can be any character data type. - CANONICAL|COMPATIBILITY is an optional parameter and allows you to specify the mode of decomposition. CANONICAL is the default. CANONICAL means it can be re-composed with the COMPOSE function. COMPATIBILITY means that it can’t be re-composed, but it can be useful for katakana characters. How To Edit MySql Engine Parameters Of an Amazon RDS Instance

13:03
PHP Web Technology Funda | AWS Cloud Read my blog here : https://www.howtoinmagento.com/ Before editing DB engine parameters, lets know about DB parameter group. We can manage DB engine configuration through the parameters in a DB parameter group. A default DB parameter group is created while creating new DB instance. We cannot modify the parameter settings of a default DB parameter group directly. If we want to edit any existing parameter value then we must create new custom DB parameter group rather than default group. Once you create custom DB parameter group, it will show you all the parameters in list and details like which parameters are editable, default value and parameter type for example dynamic or static. Some important points about DB parameter group: When we edit a dynamic parameter and save, the change is applied immediately regardless of the Apply Immediately setting. When we edit a static parameter and save, the parameter change will take effect after you manually reboot the DB instance. When we change the DB parameter group associated with a DB instance, you must manually reboot the instance before the new custom DB parameter group is used by the DB instance. The parameter value can be specified as an integer or as an integer expression built from formulas, variables, functions & operators. Note: Improperly setting parameters in a DB parameter group can have unintended adverse effects, including degraded performance and system instability. You should try out parameter group setting changes on a test DB instance before applying those parameter group changes to a production DB instance. Steps To Edit my.ini Parameters Of an Amazon RDS Instance: 1: Sign in to your AWS Management Console and search "RDS" in "AWS Service" search box. 2: Once you find RDS service, Open that Amazon RDS console page. 3: On left side panel click on "Instances" menu, then click on your "DB instance" 4: Click on "Parameter groups" menu from left panel then click on "Create parameter group" button 5: Select "Parameter group family" as per your default parameter group,in my case I will select "mysql5.6" 6: Enter new "Group name" like custom-test-group 7: Enter Description for the DB parameter group 8: Then click on "Create" button, it will create new custom Parameter group. 9: Now click "Parameter groups" menu from left panel again, it will list new recently created parameter group 10: Click on that new custom parameter group, You will see "Parameters" filter option. 11: Search for parameter you want to update the value like "wait_timeout" and click on "Edit parameters" button 12: You can add value from range mention in "Allowed values" column of that parameter. like 1-31536000 for "wait_timeout" parameter. 13: Once you done with changes, click on "Save Changes" button, It will save all recent parameter changes. 14: After this we need to associate this new custom parameter group to our DB Instance. 15: On left side panel click on "Instances" menu again, then click on your "DB instance". On the right top corner click on "Instance Action" drop-down then click on "Modify" menu. 16: You will see "Modify DB Instance" page, Now scroll down and go to "Database options" section and select newly created custom parameter group from "DB parameter group" dropbox. 17: Click on "Continue" button, It will take some time to apply new parameter group. 18: Once done Step 17, Again On left side panel click on "Instances" menu, then click on your "DB instance". On the right top corner click on "Instance Action" drop-down then click on "Reboot" menu. Happy Learning AWS Services!!!! :) Still Doubts? lets put your questions in below comment box! Thanks! SQL Script to create the Employees table Create Table Employees ( Id int primary key, Name nvarchar(50), Salary int ) Go Insert Into Employees Values (1, 'Mark', 1000) Insert Into Employees Values (2, 'John', 2000) Insert Into Employees Values (3, 'Pam', 3000) Insert Into Employees Values (4, 'Sara', 4000) Insert Into Employees Values (5, 'Todd', 5000) Go Calculate the running total of Salary and display it against every employee row The following query calculates the running total. We have not specified an explicit value for ROWS or RANGE clause. SELECT Name, Salary, SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary) AS RunningTotal FROM Employees So the above query is using the default value which is RANGE BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW This means the above query can be re-written using an explicit value for ROWS or RANGE clause as shown below. SELECT Name, Salary, SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary RANGE BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW) AS RunningTotal FROM Employees We can also achieve the same result, by replacing RANGE with ROWS SELECT Name, Salary, SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary ROWS BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW) AS RunningTotal FROM Employees What is the difference between ROWS and RANGE To understand the difference we need some duplicate values for the Salary column in the Employees table. Execute the following UPDATE script to introduce duplicate values in the Salary column Update Employees set Salary = 1000 where Id = 2 Update Employees set Salary = 3000 where Id = 4 Go Now execute the following query. Notice that we get the running total as expected. SELECT Name, Salary, SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary ROWS BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW) AS RunningTotal FROM Employees The following query uses RANGE instead of ROWS SELECT Name, Salary, SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary RANGE BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW) AS RunningTotal FROM Employees Notice we don't get the running total as expected. So, the main difference between ROWS and RANGE is in the way duplicate rows are treated. ROWS treat duplicates as distinct values, where as RANGE treats them as a single entity. All together side by side. The following query shows how running total changes 1. When no value is specified for ROWS or RANGE clause 2. When RANGE clause is used explicitly with it's default value 3. When ROWS clause is used instead of RANGE clause SELECT Name, Salary, SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary) AS [Default], SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary RANGE BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW) AS [Range], SUM(Salary) OVER(ORDER BY Salary ROWS BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW) AS [Rows] FROM Employees Text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/10/difference-between-rows-and-range.html Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/10/difference-between-rows-and-range_8.html All SQL Server Text Articles http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/free-sql-server-video-tutorials-for.html All SQL Server Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/sql-server.html All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in English https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?view=1&sort=dd All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in Arabic https://www.youtube.com/c/KudvenkatArabic/playlists
